Description:	En un intento de disminuir los impactos ambientales del proceso tecnológico actual se han propuesto a nivel internacional diversas estrategias que exigen cambios en los patrones de consumo y sistemas productivos, en la realización de estudios con participación de la población y en la incorporación del concepto de desarrollo sustentable en las instituciones de Educación Superior, entre otros. Entre estos términos, el objetivo de este trabajo consiste en elaborar una propuesta de Plan de Acción Ambiental para la Facultad de Química de la UAQ que permita identificar, planear y realizar acciones para adoptar al interior de la misma una cultura de respeto al medio ambiente y laboral por la comunidad universitaria. Este Plan favorecerá su capacidad de respuesta en prevención de riesgos y en el uso eficiente de los recursos disponibles, fortalecerá la formación y actualización ambiental de la planta académica responsable de contribuir a generar una mayor toma de conciencia de la problemática ambiental en sus alumnos y contribuirá al cambio no sólo institucional, sino regional y nacional. La metodología partió de un diagnóstico de la situación ambiental y laboral en la Facultad de Química que incluyó las condiciones de infraestructura y de operación mediante una auditoría ambiental a organizaciones no industriales siguiendo los términos de referencia emitidos por la PROFEPA (2005); la revisión del mapa curricular y de las bitácoras de las Academias para las carreras vigentes hasta el 2004 en términos de la inclusión de los tres componentes del desarrollo sustentable (ambiente, sociedad y economía) en éstos; y el reconocimiento de las necesidades, perspectivas e intereses por parte de la comunidad universitaria mediante entrevistas y cuestionarios practicados a muestras representativas de profesores, administrativos y estudiantes. Posteriormente, se planteó un taller participativo para definir las prioridades ambientales y educativas de la Facultad y establecer estrategias y mecanismos de participación dirigidos a organizar actividades relacionadas con el diagnóstico efectuado y al uso y manejo eficiente de los recursos con los que se cuenta. Finalmente, considerando la información recabada, se diseñó el Plan de Acción Ambiental con acciones concretas a realizar e indicadores para cada área de trabajo definida. In an attempt to reduce the environmental impacts of the current technological process, diverse strategies at the international level have been proposed, which dictate changes in the patterns of consumption and productive systems, in the studies performed with participation of the population and in the incorporation of the concept of sustainable development in the Institutions of Higher Education, amongst others. Under these terms, the objective of this work consists of elaborating a proposal of a Plan of Environmental Action for the Faculty of Chemistry of the UAQ, which allows identifying, planning and implementing actions of respect for the environment and work amongst the university community that will become part of the Faculty¿s culture. This Plan will favor the capacity of response in the prevention of risks and in the efficient use of the resources available. It will fortify the formation and environmental update of the academic personnel responsible for contributing to a greater conscience of the environmental problem in the students and will contribute to a change not only institutional, but regional and national. The methodology started with a diagnosis of the environmental and labor situation in the Faculty of Chemistry that included the infrastructure and operation conditions by means of an environmental audit of non-industrial organizations, according to the terms issued by PROFEPA (2005); the revision of the curricular map and the binnacles of the Academies for the effective courses up to 2004 in terms of the inclusion of the three components of the sustainable development (atmosphere, society and economy) in these; and the acknowledgment of the necessities, perspectives and interests of the university community by means of interviews and questionnaires to representative samples of professors, administrative personnel and students. Afterwards, a workshop was considered to define the environmental and educative priorities of the Faculty and to establish strategies and mechanisms of participation directed to organize activities related to the diagnosis carried out and to the efficient use and handling of the resources available. Finally, considering the information obtained, the Plan of Environmental Action was designed with concrete actions to perform and indicators for each defined area of work.
