Description:	La presente investigación analiza los mecanismos legales y la acción punitiva ejercida contra la embriaguez habitual durante el porfiriato en Querétaro. Se estudia la crítica de que fuera objeto aquel ¿vicio¿ por considerarse un problema social y un hábito contrario a los principios y valores del progreso, meta que se había propuesto el gobierno mexicano. Sumándose al proyecto nacional, y como medidas de control social, en el estado se crearon e implementaron instrumentos legales como el Código Penal del estado de Querétaro y diversos reglamentos de pulquerías, que buscaban controlar y erradicar la embriaguez entre los queretanos, principalmente del sector popular. Bajo la ideología positivista y teniendo como trasfondo ideas morales y degeneracionistas se pudo llevar el discurso a la práctica, considerándose la embriaguez habitual como un delito, lo que permitió ejercer acciones punitivas contra mujeres y hombres acusados como delincuentes, muchas veces sin serlo. El análisis de las cuestiones mencionadas trata de mostrar un panorama que busca complementar la historiografía local del porfiriato. This research analyzes the legal mechanisms and punitive action against habitual drunkenness exercised during the Porfiriato in Queretaro. The criticism that was the subject that "vice" by regarded as a social problem and a habit contrary to the principles and values of progress, a goal that was proposed by the Mexican government is studied. Joining the national project, and as measures of social control in the state were created and implemented legal instruments such as the Penal Code of the State of Queretaro and various regulations of pulquerías, which sought to control and eradicate drunkenness among queretanos, mainly the popular sector. Under the positivist ideology and against the background of moral ideas and degenerationists could bring the discourse to practice, considering the habitual drunkenness as a crime, which allowed punitive measures against women and men accused as criminals, often without being one. The analysis of the issues mentioned try to show a scenario that seeks to complement the local historiography of Porfiriato.
