Hospital Information systems, HIS, are constantly evolving with the purpuse of offering patients and the community in general better service, providing valuable information and statistics that help in the prevention of illness in the different regions. The current probme with the HIS is the poor interaction they have with users, such as doctors and nurses. When the latter are treating a patient or using a tool they must access the correct information for the event and the case. One of the alternatives for optimizing these systems is the voice recognition of doctors and nurses so that when they are confronted with critical situation or procedures, the system will be powerfull enough to establish rapid and effective comunication. Thus, with clear orders from an authorized user, the system can access different modules and obtaininformation which is displayed on screens, creating and printing reports or images as they are needed at the moment or sending instruction to other systems connected to the hospital network. In the public health sector where there is a great demand for service, celerity, opportuneness, speed and effectiveness are vital for saving lives and offering quality service. This study proposes the creation, management and transference of technology with voice recognition within a system already tested and installed in various hospitals in Mexico bye the company Compañia Mexicana de Radiologia, S.A. de C.V. (CMR, from its initial in Spanish) in the ¿beta¿ version at the moment. This would make possible the validation of the posible use and functionality of the system in order to improve the HIS-CMR, providing significant advantages over the competition and an increase in health services in the regions of Mexico and the markets where it is installed or will be installed. Health in Latin America is precarious and urgently demands better health processes in all aspects. Voice recognition systems will revolutionize the man-machine interaction, making it posible to provide a better future for our people.
