Plasty repairment using mesh is the standard technique for the repair of inguinal hernias. Polypropylene mesh (30x30 cm and 25x35cm) are available in public health institutions, on which they consume only one segment of mesh in the repair of an inguinal hernia, regardless of the technique used. Literature evidence that polypropylene mesh piece can be optimized using leftover segments undergoing different processes of re-sterilization and disinfection. There have been comparative clinical studies have shown no statistically significant difference in rates of infection, recurrence or inguinodynia using new stitches or re-esterilized mesh. A descriptive, retrospective, prospective and cross-sectional study was conducted at General Hospital of Queretaro of the Ministry of Health of the State of Queretaro, (SESEQ), for a period of two years (2012-2014). The overall objective was to determine the safety and effectiveness of using disinfected Alkacide mesh for surgical management of inguinal hernia. All adult patients (over 18 years) undergoing outpatient inguinal plasty to free tension in the General Hospital of Queretaro in the period from 2012 to 2014, were included. A total of 140 patients, 42 women and 98 men were included. The lowest value for age was 18 years, while the oldest was 82 years. The median age and fashion was 40 years, while the total average was 42.92. There were a total of 10 complications representing 7.1% of the cases and were presented as followed : seroma in 5 patients ( 3.5 % ), hematoma in 2 patients ( 1.42 % ), infection in 2 patients ( 1.4 % ) ; One patient had recurrence in the course of 6 months postoperatively ( 0.7 %). 92.8 % had no complications. Patients who developed SSI (surgery site infection) had a history of comorbidities (DM2 and rheumatoid arthritis). Analyzing the results obtained in this study, we note that the overall percentage of presented complications ( 7.1 % ) remains within those reported in the literature, so there is a positive equivalence of using disinfected mesh ( mediate use ) and using sterilized mesh ( immediate use ).es_ES
