Resumen: The Mexican Volcanic Belt (MVB) is a seismogenic zone that is located as a fringe with an east-west orientation in the central part of Mexico; The potential about the seismic risk and hazard of this zone has not been studied in detail; it due to the scarcity of instrumental data as well as because seismicity in the continental regime of central Mexico is not too frequent. However, it is known that there are precedents of large earthquakes (Mw>6.0) that have taken place in this zone of the MVB. In this study presents a contribution to the knowledge about the behavior of this seismic signal on the MVB zone. Eighty records of 22 shallow seismic events from the source in the seismogenic zone of the Mexican Volcanic Belt (MVB) were collected from the main seismic nets of Mexico, this database corresponds to the last 13 years. At the beginning one analysis of this seismicity was done through the estimation of site effects with base on the technic H/V spectral ratios. The results showed: 1) That the northeast part of the MVB show a less amplification of the seismic signal in comparison to the rest of the zone MVB; 2) The reliability to classify 2 groups of stations, i) six stations with significant site amplification (SSA) and (ii) seven stations with negligible site amplification (NSA); 3) that in the MVB there is a average amplification to up 1.5 times more in the 0.36 Hz frequency than those reported by García (2009) for the zone of subduction; 4) that the MVB has a behavior very particular because it presents in average of to up four peaks with amplitude ranging from 4 to 6.65 at frequencies of about 0.36, 0.75, 15 y 23 Hz. Contrasts of this study with previous others (these based with inter-plate seismicity) are done and discussed in detail in this document. At the end of this document are attached 3 articles about the analysis and the behavior of the seismic signal as product of this research; two of these papers are focused in the Querétaro area and the third in a regional overview on the central part of our country (MVB).
