One of the main problems confronted by universities everyday is the lack of economic resources. This means that few resources can be used to generate applied research. Given this problem the question is: How can research carried out by universities materialize into useful projects for the country¿s productive entities? At the same time, companies have enormous economic limitations which decrease competitiveness and very little highly specialized personnel that can implement technology which is constantly evolving and is necessary to remain in the market. The government has the social function of aiding in both aspects. This study centers on the creation of a self-sustainable Technology and Innovation Management Laboratory for carrying out research projects, counseling and technological transference that would make it possible to overcome the barrier of restrictions caused by the lack of resources for universities and companies, thus materializing into important projects for the country¿s productive entities. It covers an analysis of management, research and innovation in Mexico and the world and later, the creation of the Laboratory. For the latter, the following is proposed: How to obtain resources, a method for working on projects, classifying them and also for determining the contributions of the members of the team involved. After, some of the projects derived from this thesis and how results for each were obtained is shown. In the results, precise indicators created for the Laboratory are shown, among them: economic indicators, university-business ties, scholarships, awards, publications, and contributions to the university, thus showing how knowledge can be creates by working in teams and carrying out high impact ¿projects for society without modifying legislation and from researcher¿s viewpoint. The thesis is amply demonstrated with the operation of the Laboratory up to this time with the premises set forth here, having obtained for itself almost 80% of the resources for research at the School of Accounting.
