Description:	La investigación del proceso de gestión del conocimiento permite analizar, evaluar y proyectar nuevos modelos que impacten en la competitividad, sin embargo, su estudio generalmente requiere incluir variables que son omitidas como el aprendizaje y productividad. A nivel internacional, en cuestión a la competitividad, México se encuentra ubicado en la posición 37 de un total de 59 economías (WCY, 2012) esto se hace evidente en su nivel de crecimiento, ya que en relación al 2009, había crecido solo 15% (Banco Mundial, 2011) y para el tercer trimestre del 2011 se incrementó únicamente un 4.5% comparado con el trimestre inmediato anterior, siendo el sector secundario el que menos se acrecentó con 3.4%, mientras que el primario y el terciario crecieron 8.3% y 4.8% respectivamente (Inegi, 2011). La competitividad puede ser un concepto utópico para muchos países y organizaciones, sin embargo, es una realidad que a inicios del siglo XXI la principal fuente de ventaja competitiva, debe estar basada en el talento humano y el conocimiento (Imco, 2009). Con la presente tesis doctoral, se propone realizar un análisis de la industria manufacturera de calzado durante el periodo (2003-2012), considerando las variables de gestión de conocimiento, aprendizaje, productividad y competitividad. Para ello, se han revisado diversos modelos adoptando el de índice de ventajas comparativas reveladas articulado al de cadena de conocimiento para lograr profundizar y clarificar la investigación. Los resultados indican que la gestión del conocimiento y la competitividad, a nivel general, presentan datos discordantes, mientras que, a nivel organización, existe un crecimiento logrado al amparo de un modelo denominado Competitividad Independiente CI. The research of knowledge management process allows to analyze, evaluate and project new models that impact in the competitiveness, however, its study generally requires to include variables that are omitted like productivity and learning. Internationally, in competitiveness issue, México is situated in the place number 37 and, in economies issue, in the place number 59 (WCY, 2012), this is evident in its growth level, because of Mexico grew just 15% in comparison to 2009 (World Bank, 2011) and for the third trimester of 2011 its growth was only of 4.5% compared with the previous trimester, being secondary sector the less incremented with 3.4% while the primary and tertiary sector increase 8.3% and 4.8% respectively (Inegi, 2011). The competitiveness could be an utopic concept for many organizations and countries, however, at the beginning of XXI century the main source of competitive advantage must be based on human talent and the knowledge (Imco, 2009). This doctoral thesis proposes an analysis of footwear manufacturing industry during the period of 2003-2012, considering knowledge management, learning, productivity and competitiveness as variables. For this, diverse models have been reviewed and the model that considers the revealed comparative advantage index attached to the model of knowledge chain was chosen in order to clarify and deepen the investigation. The results show that knowledge management and competitiveness reveal a contrary data at general level, while, at organizational level, there is an increase which is reached at expense of a model called Independent Competitiveness (CI).
