"This work explores the sociolinguistic situation about the use of de hñähñu and Spanish languages, in the community of Boxo Cardonal, in the State of Hidalgo México. The data was collected through the ethnographic method. This method made it possible to know about the direct version of the speakers, and in their own context, about the current process that the hñähñu people present against the Spanish. The interviews and the observations of the interactions between the use of de hñähñu and Spanish languages included the participations of children, teenagers, adults and the elderly. The sources that were used as a reference were the family and the community space. El Boxo nowadays is a bilingual community, ¿hñähñu and Spanish¿. But the vitally of the hñähñu is threatened by several linguistic factors, that cause discontinuities in the use and maintenance of the culture and the language itself. The transition from hñähñu in favor of Spanish is promoted by body such as the church, School, Hospital, Stores and other Institutions that impose and demand models that recognize a unique way of life. Similary, there are other important factors that cause the disuse of hñähñu such as the economic situations or migration that brings new models of communication. Just like the brands of discrimination that were previously lived. For this apparent reason, the community decided to adopt Spanish as the predominant language as well as the ways of life of the community. The community speakers also have a dissonance between the discursive and practical plane. That is to say, the majority of the adult generation manifests a concern in intergenerational linguistic discontinuity. But at the same time they speak Spanish to their offspring. That is to say that the speaker¿s don¿t feel summoned to move from the plane of ¿saying¿ to the plane of ¿doing¿, since it takes a strengthening linguistic plan for the hñähñu language. In addition to that it also lacks the support from government institutions to create language revival programs not only in the Boxo community, but also in all the communities of the Mezquital Valley."
